Tommi Tykkala's PhD

Dr. Tommi Tykkälä successfully defended his PhD thesis "Real-Time Image-Based RGB-D Camera Motion Tracking and Environment Mapping".

Tykkälä PhD thesis: PDF. The thesis is related to the AuReStudio project (www) where he developed novel real-time dense RGB-D method for tracking and 3D reconstruction. Accuracy and performance of the method corresponds to state-of-the-art and the code will be publicly available for other developers. The demonstrations on the project Web page show also real-time rendered and captured augmented reality characters.

New Project Webpage

The webpage of project about Learning 10,000 Visual Classes and Some Stuff is constructed.

The webpage of new project entitled "Learning 10,000 Visual Classes and Some Stuff" is constructed. For more details, please refer to the link.

New Post-Doc Research Fellow

Dr. Ke Chen joined the group.

Ke starts his research in large-scale visual object recognition funded by Academy of Finland. Welcome Ke.

Academy Funding

Our project, "Learning 10,000 Visual Classes and Some Stuff", received significant funding from highly appreciated Academy of Finland open call.

The project will support our high quality research on visual object class detection. The funding will be used to recruit a new post-doc member to the team to conduct research in the project and to supervise PhD and MSc students in the group.
